Mel Callas joins Canopy Team as a Project Coordinator, bringing a background in graphic design, visual arts, and 3D design. Her experience spans across client-focused design projects, placemaking design and installation, photography, and museum digitization.

At Canopy Team, Mel supports project teams with design development, project coordination, and digital assets. With her professional experience at the Michelle Smith Collaboratory for Visual Culture and the STAMP Gallery at University of Maryland, Mel illustrates a keen eye for creative detail in her designs and excels in visual communication.

Mel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from the University of Maryland, College Park, with minors in Art History and Sustainability. While at UMD, she designed and executed a large-scale mural selected for installation at the University’s SIRJ Lab and worked on various creative projects expanding her skillset to reach any creative corner. Mel also expanded her studies in Copenhagen, Denmark focusing on her strong passion for sustainable architecture and interior design. Outside of work, Mel enjoys caring for her houseplants and gardening, attending live music and museums, traveling, and practicing photography. As a Maryland native, Mel will always support UMD and can recommend the best coffee shop nearby!
